The Place

A place that has lived many lives

Before becoming what you see today, this place was a vineyard. Then a family farm, for generations. Its stone walls saw the harvests and the silent winters, the families and the seasons pass by. When we discovered it, the house was asleep — but not extinguished. There was still something waiting, in the grain of the stone, in the ceiling beams, in the silence of the garden.

We woke it up. Stone by stone, room by room, season after season.

The hosts

Who are we

We are Angell and Rose. Parents. Dreamers. Caretakers of this land.
Before Burgundy, we spent twenty years in the Catskill Mountains north of New York, where we founded and ran a centre dedicated to reconnection with nature. Then the call of our family roots made itself heard, and we returned to France, to this quiet valley in the Yonne, where the air feels older and the silence carries far.
We did not come here to escape the world. We came to root more deeply within it.
Our life is woven from simplicity, beauty, and attention to the living world. We live on-site with our children, Henry, 7, who may invite you to chase butterflies in the garden, and Juliette, 2, whose laughter already seems to be in conversation with the trees.
We care for this house not only with tools, but with heart. We plant, we welcome, we listen. And we consider every guest to be part of the living story of this place.

The Vision

The Estate's Renewal

Blue Deer Farm does not stop at the walls of the house. Across the estate’s 8 hectares, we are carrying out a project of ecological renewal, gradual rewilding, food gardens, a future orchard and apiary, and rainwater harvesting. We believe that a place of hospitality can also be a place of regeneration, for people as well as for the land.
The name “Blue Deer” came to us like a vision, a symbol of memory, magic, and wild sacredness. It is the spirit of this land, and it is the invitation we extend to each of our guests: come here not only to rest, but to remember something essential.
